Yesterday i got the chance to chat to my boy friend(lalakeng kaibigan po...nothing less, nothing more hehe) Jong, who is one of my closest buddy since college. He used to be an Engineering Professor in the University where we graduated, he's now in Dubai trying his luck in his so called "bayan ng langhap sarap" haha.
Last summer we were exchanging text messages, and he said that one of our classmate back in college we'll be going home for a vacation next year after almost 2 yrs of working in Taiwan. Jong was thinking of having a reunion and i jokingly said "hoy magipon ka tapos magBora tayo paguwi ni Marg"...i was caught in surprise to his reply..."sira pano pa ako makakaipon, eh wala na akong trabaho"...i said " ano?bakit?"...Jong replied "nagresign na kaya ako!"...i replied " siraulo ka tlaga! bakit ka naman nagresign? ok naman ang work mo ha, ok din naman ang sweldo mo..." he said " maga-abroad na ako eh...pupunta ako sa dubai". So that was it, Sir Jong traded his teaching job for "i'll try my luck in Dubai".
After the kamustahan(i haven't talked to him for barely a month), he eventually said..."wala na akong trabaho"...i said " ha? bakit? anong nangyari?"...Jong's reply "tinanggal ako eh! 1.5 hrs lang ako nagwork...bwisit!"...i said "grabe naman yun! dapat nagtanong ka kung bakit ganun"...Jong's reply " nagtanong nga ako...ang sabi ba naman...Just stop working...they found a replacement na daw". I felt how disappointed he was on the discrimination of those middle east dudes.
Now i know why my father never wanted me to work in the middle east, he would always say "wag ka magmadali makakapag-abroad ka din, makakapunta ka rin sa UK", which according to my eldest sister(who has been working there for 5 yrs now) the treatment to Filipinos is much better.
I have this question on my mind, why are Filipinos always been discriminated where infact they say that Filipinos are very hard working compared to other foreign dudes.
